Development Plans

The Development Plans are documents which provide guidance for the development and use of land. It addresses a range of topics including housing, transport, environment, shopping and employment. The Development Plan is currently comprised of two documents – a Structure Plan and a Local Plan.

Under the new legislation, Strategic Development Plans will replace Structure Plans and each Council is required to produce a Local Development Plan which will replace Local Plans.
