Development Plans

The Development Plans are documents which provide guidance for the development and use of land. It addresses a range of topics including housing, transport, environment, shopping and employment. The Development Plan is currently comprised of two documents – a Structure Plan and a Local Plan. A leaflet on Strategic Development Planning in Scotland has been produced containing more information (click here to view).

Under the new legislation, Strategic Development Plans will replace Structure Plans and each Council is required to produce a Local Development Plan which will replace Local Plans.
