Top Planners Praise TAYplan Template
February 9th, 2015THE UK’S TOP planners have praised the work of the local strategic development planning authority for its co-ordination of key policies.
In a recent report the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) highlighted TAYplan’s co-ordination of economic development, housing, transportation and other policies.
The report, “Strategic Planning: Effective Cooperation for Planning Across Boundaries” features TAYplan’s area covering the Perth and Dundee City Region as one of its case studies.
It showcases the way effective partnership working, created through strong local buy-in and commitment from local councillors, and its importance to strategic planning and delivering real benefits to communities.
Janet Askew, President of the RTPI said: “Collaboration, strong leadership and democratic accountability are key to strategic planning.
“The TAYplan approach is a model for other authorities to create better connected economically successful places for people to live and work.”
Convener of the TAYplan Joint Committee, Cllr Lesley Laird said: “I am delighted that the professionalism of the approach we use has been highlighted in this way.
“To be included by industry experts among some of the most innovative best practice in the UK not only gains us recognition at the highest levels it also endorses our approach for the people who live in our area and will be affected by future planning decisions. “
With 23,000 members worldwide working in the public, private, charitable and education sectors, the RTPI is the largest professional institute for planners in Europe.
In Scotland the organisation represents 2,100 members who contribute to policy development to improve approaches to planning for the benefit of the public.
