This document was published on 6 June 2011 alongside the Proposed Strategic Development Plan. |

TAYplan and the four constituent councils jointly prepared a Housing Need and Demand Assessment (HNDA) to inform the first Strategic Development Plan. It was submitted to the Scottish Government's Centre for Housing Market Analysis (CHMA) in January 2010 and was found to be robust and credible in January 2011 following similar assessments being completed for the council level HNDAs for each of the four councils covering TAYplan. Consultants Arneil Johnstone were commissioned to carry out the assessment of need and demand with other work being completed by TAYplan. |

In Autumn 2013 TAYplan commissioned Oxford Economics to prepare an Economic Outlook for the TAYplan area. This work was completed in January 2014. It considers local, national and global economic influences on the TAYplan region and makes forecasts for future employment. It also considers the judgements made for scenarios examination in the TAYplan-wide Joint Housing Need and Demand Assessment (2013). This study has helped to inform the TAYplan Main Issues Report (2014). |

In spring 2013 TAYplan commissioned Roderick MacLean Associates Ltd to prepare a Strategic Review of Town Centres and Retailing in the TAYplan Area. This research informed the TAYplan Main Issues Report (2014) on key strategic issues associated with town centres in the TAYplan area. The review requires a holistic approach to town centre policy and not simply focus on retailing. For example, this requires looking at factors such as attractiveness of town centres as places to visit, invest and live and work. In addition, the exercise suggests a consistent and standardised method of collecting data on town centres to monitor the health of the centres. |
